Haiku: About Duck

Haiku: About Duck
Kokomi Teruhashi from The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

Here are two haiku about ducks.

鴨の上らくがきばかりひとつ橋

Over ducks,

Nothing but graffiti,

On the single bridge.

独り舟追わぬ鴨群れ水の影

In a lone boat,

Not to chase, a flock of ducks--

My shadow on the water.

季語:鴨 (for winter)

Commentary:

I wrote the first haiku after I walking through a wooden bridge near the Charles River. Over the river, there was a old stone bridge full of graffiti, and there were some ducks under it.

The second haiku is completely imagination. The flock of ducks means the public trend, and the person on the decides not to follow the trend. Fortunately, at least his shadow is there be with him.
