Haiku: About Buddism

朧夜リコリスが咲く伽藍堂

On the misty night,
Path lit by lycoris bloom,
To the empty garan-dō.

朧夜：おぼろよる
伽藍堂：がらんどう

季語:
朧夜 (spring)

仏教用語：
リコリス: Lycoris, also refers to the flower of the other shore. The other shore is the very last place people will reach after achieving goals or Buddhist practice, and the flower of the other shore guides them and dead people.
伽藍堂: garan-dō, the empty room in the temple and also means the ultimate emptiness after achieving the Buddhist practice.

Comment:

I tried to combine several Buddist images together in this haiku. Following the road full of blooming lycoris, people who achieved Buddist practice will finally understand everything. However, after knowing everything it would become empty and dull, which is the deep meaning of garan-dō. I believe the process to learn new things is the most interesting part. I learned the word “lycoris” from the anime “Lycoris Recoil”, and garan-dō is a very Buddhist word and I really like its sound.
